Heavy Metal Tow Truck
It’s a 1969 International Loadstar cabover truck with a single rear axle and a super short wheelbase. When I saw this sitting in a junkyard and got a good look at how good of shape it was in, I knew that I had to turn it into a project. Besides, there is just something about these old cabover trucks that every gearhead loves! The response was great when we stuffed in the hot Duramax diesel engine and custom air suspension, but people really went crazy when we put on the vintage Schlitz beer kegs for fuel tanks and fit the vintage wrecker bed on the back. Since this is a former Navy truck, the name “Heavy Metal” was a natural fit.
Cheetah
The Cheetah was so unique, so wild, and so stinkin’ fast, that the legend has just continued to grow over the years… and I, like many other gearheads, have always wanted to build one. But instead of just building a replica of the 60’s race car, with all the inherent problems that the original Cheetah had, I have always wanted to do a modern, street legal version of this wild sports car. Fortunately, with the introduction of the Cheetah Evolution cars, it is now possible for ANYBODY to build one of these wild machines in their own garage. The GEARZ Cheetah Project is designed to show what’s involved in building one of these cars, and also showcase some of the cool things that can be done to it.
Catalog Camaro
Marking the last year of the second-generation Camaros, the 1981 model was much the same as the previous years. The RS model was dropped and wouldn’t be seen again until 1989. Also, a new engine control computer was included in all models. Production dropped once again due to aged styling, oil crises, and declining economy. The Z/28’s performance characteristics remained unchanged. The Berlinetta was the only model to increase in production for 1981.
'59 Chevy Apache
The late '50s Chevy Apache makes a great starting point for a hot rod truck project. Stacey is throwing some serious old-school power at this one, and it'll be ready to dish out some bad medicine to anyone who wants to try it!
